Archipelago di La Maddalena National Park

Arcipelago di La Maddalena National Park is one of the major national parks in Sardinia situated
in the north-eastern part of the island. This national park covered an area of 12000 hectares 180
km. It includes six major islands – Caprera, Santo Stefano, Spargi, Budelli, and Santa

Limbara Mountain Park

Limbara Mountain Park is another major park in the northeastern part of Sardinia. It is actually located in the historical reason of Gallura. It is situated at 1362 meter above sea level.

The National park in the central part of Sardinia

The following are some of the most renowned national parks in the central part of Sardinia:

  • Marghine-Goceano Park:

Marghine-Goceano Park is one of the biggest parks located at the central part of Sardinia and it
exists in between Siniscola coast and Bosacoast. Goceano has 4500 hectares of land and it spans
across Bono, Anela, and Bultei. In this national park, you will find many habitats like boars,
foxes, sheep, wood pigeons, blackbirds, Sardinian deer, etc. Apart from this, you can also find
innumerable species of exotic trees that includes oak, ferns, rock rose, clematis, hackberry, etc.

Sinis-Montiferru Park:

Sinis-Montiferru Park is another important park located in the central part of Sardinia, which is mainly formed by three major islands – Montiferru, Sinis peninsula and Oristano plains.

This national park is famous for its wildlife that includes wild boar, Sardinian wildcat, European hedgehog, fox, Sardinian hare, vulture, carrion crow, hoopoe, Eurasian scops owl and others.

Sulcis Park:

Sulcis Park is a major national park located in the southwestern part of Sardinia. It is a UNESCO world heritage center and is an ideal place for nature and water lovers.
Sulcis Park is mainly formed by two main islands – San Pietro and Sant Antioco.
San Pietro Island is known for its beautiful landscape and rocky volcanic coasts.
This island is also called Green Island.
Sant Antioco is mainly made up of beaches and is connected to the shore for almost 3 Km.

Molentargius – Saline Regional Park:

Molentargius – Saline Regional Park is another main regional park located in the southern part of Sardinia.

You can find Sardinian tree frog, European green toad, marsh turtle, green whip snake, etc.
