The Carbonai Path
From the “Sette Fratelli Park” to Villasimus, an hiking route to discover South-East Sardinia.
An easy journey which follows the path of the “Carbonai”,namely coal-men who arrived in Sardinia at the end of the 1800’s for the exploitation of the forest heritage of the island,and that along the coastal trails will guide you to Villasimus.

D1: Arrival in Cagliari
Individual arrival in Cagliari and room accommodations.
In the late afternoon there is going to be a meeting with the representatives of IchnusaBike for the briefing of this walking tour, which will introduce you to the South-Est of Sardinia.
D2: The “Sette Fratelli”
After breakfast there will be a transfer to the Sette Fratelli Park from where your Trekking Excursion, which at the end of the day will lead to the nearby Castiadas, shall begin.
The not particularly challenging pathway is in one of the most fascinating green areas of Sardinia, where even the “Cervo Sardo” found its home. A Natural Reserve, rich of breathtaking views, mountains, forests and the ever present Mediterranean scrubland.
By foot: approx 12 kms
D3: Torre Salinas
From the Castiadias surroundings to the Muravera Sea, in a transfer stage which will make you cross the Sabbaus’ fertile lands and walk along the Feraxi lagoon and the Colorai Pond.
A route between land and water, rich in vegetation and birdlife, that will differently introduce you to this interesting part of Sardinia.
The perfect natural environment for the Pink Flamingo and other humid-area habitants.
By foot: approx 17.5 kms – Total Ascent +300 mt
D4: Towards Costarei
From Torre Salinas to Costarei in a pathway among the blue of the sea and the ever-present green of the Mediterranean scrub.
Once left the Feraxi lagoon, passing through pathways which cross small and delightful uncrowded coves, you will arrive to Capo Ferrato and from here until Costarei.
Along the way, with a deviation in the homonimous promontory, you can visit the Capo Ferrato lighthouse that until 1976 was completely managed by human resources permanently living in the structure.
By foot: approx 22.5 kms – Total ASCENT 100 mt
Day of rest before the last stages of this tour.
The long Costarei seashore is approximately a hundred meters from your hotel.
D6: Towards Villasimius
From Costa Rei to Villasimius, crossing some of the most beautiful beaches of south-east Sardinia.
At mid way you can find Cala Pira, a small corner of paradise made up by a fine-sanded beach framed within granite rocks and a juniper vegetation surmounted by one of the 107 towers that once was used to protect the local residents from the sea invasions.
In the late afternoon we will arrive in Villasimius, one of the most famous tourist resorts of Sardinia.
By foot: approx 21 kms – Total Ascent +500 mt
From your hotel to Capo Carbonara and back, in an easy circular pathway which will allow you to better discover the surroundings of Villasimius.
From the Cava Usai Beach passing by the tower and Beach of Porto Giunco, where a narrow and extremely-fine sanded strip separates the Notteri Pond from the crystaline clear sea, characteristic of this coastline.
By foot: about 13 kms – Total Ascent +250 m
After breakfast we come to the end of our services, greetings and farewell to the next adventure.
You can return to Cagliari using a private transfer or pubic transports.
