D1 – Arrival in Olbia
Independent arrival at the hotel in the centre of Olbia.
In the evening, meeting with Ichnusabike staff, bike check–up, dinner and overnight stay.
D2 – Bitti
Along the road of the pilgrims and the ancient livestock tracks we’ll leave the Emerald Coast behind and reach the great plateau of Alà dei Sardi where the silence reigns and you’ll be able to see the vast spaces that will be your landmarks during this trip.
In the evening we’ll reach our little farm shelter where we’ll be able to taste the typical cuisine of the island.
By Bike approx. 70 kms – Total Ascent: approx 1950 mt.
D3 – Oliena
Through a forest of oaks we’ll reach the sacred nuragic well of Su Tempiesu.
Through may uphills and downhills we’ll reach our hotel at Oliena at the foot of the Supramonte mountains and have a good nights’ rest before facing one of the toughest laps of Transardinia.
By Bike approx. 58 kms – Total Ascent: approx 1300 mt.
D4 – Fonni
Definitely the toughest day as far as the road surface is concerned but also the most exciting!
The climb towards the Supramonte seems endless but the view of the valley from above pays back the effort and allows us to admire an uncontaminated and wild environment.
After leaving the Supramonte we’ll go towards our agriturismo where, as usual, we’ll rest and chat around the fireplace after dinner.
By Bike approx. 54 kms – Total Ascent: approx 1450 mt.
D5 – Seui
Today we’ll climb the mount Bruncu Spina.
Reaching the peak of the highest mountain of the island, the conditions tend to get quite extreme but once on top we’re rewarded by the spectacular view that reaches from the mountains of Corsica to the Gulf of Cagliari.
Along the way, on the other side of Gennargentu, you will visit the ruins of the nuragic village of Orruinas and admire the rock of Perda Liana.
After a few more kms we’ll reach Seui, a small village which still offers to its visitors a glimpse of past traditions.
By Bike approx. 75 kms – Total Ascent: approx 1900 mt.
D6 – Villasalto
No respite! More uphill today! We’ll start along an old mule track that was also used in the past centuries by the women who used to go to the river to do the washing.
From here we’ll cross the desert plateau of Salto di Quirra after which we’ll continue downhill towards Villasalto where the unfailing typical cuisine will restore us and prepare us for the last lap of our journey.
By Bike approx. 74 kms – Total Ascent: approx 2000 mt.
D7 – Cagliari
Last stage!
After breakfast you should have time to visit a small local liquor distillery that produces excellent myrtle (“mirto”) liquor.
Lastly we pass round Monte Genis to take in an almost North–African countryside of unrivalled beauty. Soon, we’ll soon be able to see the Gulf of Cagliari and finally, our bike will lead us to the sea.
A well earned rest by the beach, transfer to the hotel and greetings until we meet again for our next adventure.
By Bike approx. 65 kms – Total Ascent: 1100 mt.
D8 – Departure
After breakfast, end of our services.
Greetings and departure or by request you may extend your stay to enjoy a few days of relax by the sea.
